What To Do When vCenter root Password Expired ?

 If you happen to have expired root password for your vCenter appliance login, you will get following error message when you try to log into the appliance via management URL.

Exception in invoking authentication handler User password expired.

 

 This is because you have forget to change your vCenter root password before it expired and the solution is simple.

 

First, log into the vCenter appliance via SSH and still your expired password is valid to login here.  

Then type "shell" and press enter to enable shell commands.

Then enter passwd command to reset the password. this will ask the new password two times and once you enter it correctly, you are good to go with the new password.
